Kawasaki ZL400 Eliminator (ZL400A)

Kawasaki ZL400 Eliminator appeared in 1986 for the Japanese domestic market. The model was based on an in-line 4-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with a volume of 398 cm³, delivering up to 54 hp. power and up to 33 Nm of torque.

Engine did not become an independent development, but almost migrated from the Kawasaki GPZ400R without any changes. Other features of the Kawasaki Eliminator 400 include a classic steel frame, simple suspensions in the form of a 37 mm telescopic fork in front and a double shock absorber at the rear, front disc and rear drum brakes, cardan drive and a 12 liter fuel tank (since 1994 - 13 liters). Dry weight of a motorcycle - from 194 kg.

At the beginning of its production, there was only one Eliminator 400 modification on the market, which had the factory code “ZL400A”.

Since 1988, the model has been divided into 2 modifications - Kawasaki Eliminator 400 SE (ZL400B) and Kawasaki Eliminator 400 LX (ZL400C). Both versions were virtually identical in technical terms, but had a number of visual and stylistic differences. In these modifications, the Eliminator 400 existed until 1990 inclusive.

In 1994, Kawasaki restyled the model, offering the market a new version of the Kawasaki ZL400 Eliminator with the factory code “ZL400D”. It visually resembles the previous LX modification, but with a different rear end, saddle, brakes, etc.

1995 was the last year of production of the model, after which it finally rolled off the assembly line. An attempt to create a drag bike with a cruiser frame and a sports engine failed and the model was in rather low demand. This applied not only to the ZL400, but to the entire Eliminator line. As a result, the series, although it has its fans, but the models are quite rare on the market.
