Yamaha FZ1-N (FZ-1)

The Yamaha FZ-1 appeared in 2001 on the basis of a classic roadside steel frame and a derated carburetor engine from Yamaha YZF-R1. In the US market, this model was called Yamaha FZ1, and in Europe, Yamaha FZS 1000 Fazer. Despite the difference in names, in all cases it is the same motorcycle. In addition to the markets of North America and Europe, the model was also sold in Oceania (Australia, etc.), Asia (Hong Kong, Japan, etc.) and South Africa.

Major generations of Yamaha FZ1:

  • 2001-2005 - first generation. Models of these years are produced only with a fairing, have a steel frame, a carburetor power system and a regular telescopic fork. In the European market, the model is sold under the name - Yamaha FZS1000 Fazer.
  • 2006-2015 - second generation. The model gets a new aluminum frame, a new injection engine, brakes and suspensions. A naked version appears without a front fairing. This generation is marketed under the name Yamaha FZ1 with N (naked, FZ1-N) or S (sport - fairing, FZ1-S) prefixes. Versions with ABS appear.

The Yamaha FZ-1 (FZS1000) was based on an in-line 4-cylinder liquid-cooled engine from the sports model Yamaha YZF-R1, which was significantly reconfigured, reducing the maximum power, but significantly increasing the torque moment in the zone of low and medium revolutions. Maximum power from 143 to 150 HP, depending on the generation. The maximum torque is 106 Nm. The maximum characteristics of the motor are reached already at 7500 (8000) -10000 (11000) rpm.

The Yamaha FZ-1 (FZS1000) features an aluminum frame (since 2006), fully adjustable sports suspension, powerful 4-piston brakes from Yamaha YZF-R1, modifications with ABS (since 2006), 6-speed gearbox and 214 kg of curb weight.

The Yamaha FZ1 model existed on the market until 2016, after which it was replaced by a completely new model - Yamaha MT-10 / FZ-10.
